Great country pub recently re-opended very friendly, Dan and the team made us all feel very welcome. Lost of plans to make improvements and right across the road from our campsite. Will definately visit again!
Very good value for money. We only paid £59 for charming little cottage accommodating myself, my wife and our 11 year old back in November. It had very adequate facilities and was clean and comfortable. The staff at the on-site pub were very friendly and the food is good too. For the price they offered I was more than satisfied.
Great atmosphere. A Propper Landlord, who engages with his customers. Local Aldwark Ales at reasonable price. His misson is to keep this 300 year old pub a good place to call in. Nice warm Log fire when we called. Nice old building interior. Well worth a visit. Don't know if they do rooms, maybe just a Pub, but they have a camp site in the warmer months just accross the road. Stayed a night and the room was very reasonable. It was simple but spacious, with a separate lounge/kitchen and had all I needed. The pub has small rooms and was very friendly, with a good atmosphere and open fires. (I was disappointed to see they'd got a telly.) There was a simple food menu and a local band the night I was there, which was a bonus. If you want an old fashioned pub and nothing pretentious, you'll like it. Great location for local walks too.
Fantastic little pub! Drove past it when staying locally and popped in for 1, loved it so much we went back the next day without the car. Landlord & Lady are very friendly and great hosts. They clearly love the place and the history. Made us feel like locals .. as did the locals, we will be back! Very dog friendly
Great little pub with fun music and band. Nice outside space, not sure about the plastic flowers though! Would love to have had more choice with ciders and other drinks. So a bit limited and no ice when needed. Great owners, very friendly and helpful. Also a lovely small camp site just over the road.
The rooms are better value than most places in the vicinity. Not luxurious but worth every penny. The real highlight was the pub that evening and warm welcome from the landlords. Very friendly local crowd and some decent ales. Don't leave without trying their homemade pies.
Great little pub no thrills but very warm and welcoming wouldn't hesitate to go back for short stay 50p pool table to carnt fault it
